Day 1: HELLO, WARSAW!
After your arrival at the Warsaw Chopin Airport, be sure that a representative of RealPoland will take care of you during every moment of this trip...
On your first evening in Warsaw, you can rest and explore the beautiful city on your own. You can choose to visit the viewing terrace on the 30th floor of Palace of Culture and Science to admire the breathtaking scenery of Warsaw.
Day 2: WARSAW SIGHTSEEING
Become a real Warsaw insider! The tour starts with a short walk around the Old Town. The area of the Old Town was completely destroyed during the Defensive War in 1939 and the Warsaw Uprising...
Today you can see it rebuilt: the Royal Castle, the townhouses and churches. Last but not least – a visit to the area of the former Jewish Ghetto – the Monument of the Ghetto Heroes, Umschlagplatz, Miła and Nalewki Streets. Unfortunately, most of the Ghetto has been razed in the war. This demonstrates the tragic history of Warsaw – a modern, lively city today, and sad ruins only fifty years ago.
Day 3: WARSAW–KRAKÓW
In the morning, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the train station in Warsaw...
The train ride to Kraków will take about 2.5 hours and you can enjoy watching the Polish landscape on the way. As Kraków will be our following base, you can make yourself at home in one of the centrally located hotels.
Day 4: KRAKÓW
You start your stay in Kraków with a walk around the lovely Old Town, culminating with a visit to the Wawel Castle – the original seat of the Polish kings...
The Wawel Cathedral, built in renaissance style, is a famous jewel of architecture. Moving on from the castle, you will pay a visit to the premises of the Jagiellonian University – one of the oldest in Europe. The next step is the Floriańska Gate and the barbican – vestiges of the medieval fortifications. The Main Market Square – the central part of the Old Town – is always packed with a colorful tourist crowd. While there, you cannot miss the opportunity to visit St. Mary’s Church, famous not only for the anthem played from its tower, but also for the medieval wooden altar sculpted by Veit Stoss. In the afternoon, you are free to explore Kraków on your own. In the evening, a short walk around Kazimierz – the old Jewish Quarter, nowadays a district of contrasts: vibrant with night-life on one hand, on the other – you can still feel its tragic history. After a short walk with our guide, you can try the traditional Jewish cuisine in one of the district’s restaurants.
Day 5: AUSCHWITZ AND WIELICZKA
You should be prepared for the whole day of sightseeing, including some very important points of your tour program...
The first stop is the Auschwitz Holocaust Memorial – an obligatory destination for all humanist-minded visitors. Every year, millions of them choose to go through the same gate as the prisoners did, with its cynic inscription: Arbeit macht frei. In the afternoon you will pay a visit to the salt mine in Wieliczka town. Founded in the 13th century, the mine is still operative. The tourist route is 2,5 km long and leads through numerous corridors, drifts, galleries and chambers, lots of them decorated with sculptures made from salt. The guide will explain how the salt was mined, from the Middle Ages till today, and show historical mining equipment.
Day 6: ZAKOPANE
For the end of your tour, youwill travel to the mountain refuge, only two hours away from Kraków...
Zakopane, also known as the Winter Capital of Poland – is a town very popular among skiing lovers, but it is also visited by thousands of tourists in the summer, offering many opportunities for mountain excursions. Visitors can also admire countless examples of unique architecture style typical for this region. Your visit will start with Gubałówka mountain with its famous cable car. From the peak you can admire the beautiful panorama of the Tatra Mountains. The next step will be a walk along Krupówki Street, famous for its stalls with hand-made souvenirs. After the sightseeing, you are going to have some free time for lunch and shopping. Zakopane is well- known for its hand-made souvenirs. Return to Kraków in the afternoon.
Day 7: GOODBYE, POLAND!
Time to say 'goodbye'! Your driver will transfer you to the airport in Kraków. If your flight departs from Warsaw, just let us know - we can arrange return transportation from Kraków to Warsaw.
Have a great tour!
My father and I recently returned from our Ultimate Poland tour and we really cannot express how impressed we were with the RealPoland coordination, staff, accommodations, food, local guides and transportation. The itinerary was filled with visits to key historic and cultural sites along with some fun activities like making our own Polish pottery and a pierogi workshop - admittedly, my father and I still need to work on these skills. The accommodations were top class European standard hotels. Breakfast each day was provided in the hotels and dinners were pre-planned at various interesting restaurants in whichever city or town we happened to be staying. Lunch was on us, this may seem daunting but the tours are arranged so that a convenient lunch break happens in a square or Old Town area with an ample choice of cafes and restaurants. As for the Polish cuisine, don’t expect kielbasa and pierogis for every meal - they like to mix it up for you.
Our original intent for taking the tour was to learn more about our Polish heritage. We asked to add an extra day on the end so that we could visit my great grandparents village - the Real Poland staff took care of everything for us, an extended itinerary with hotel, transportation and a local guide.
I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the beautiful county of Poland. It's clean, safe and very affordable. Additionally, the staff at RealPoland are amazing - especially all of the "Magdas". If you are considering a trip to Poland and are worried about getting around or finding the right tour I would highly recommend RealPoland they are first class.
Natalia' and Magda's quick responsiveness was tremendous! Overall, my total xperience with Real Poland was excellent. They were helpful during setting up my tour plans, and also very helpful when we had to cancel. Natalia researched my grandfather and found lots of information about him that I did not know. I am satisfied with the work she did and I look forward to traveling to Poland in the future. I hope to visit the area where he was from and maybe meet some of my relatives.
