Day 3: WOLF'S LAIR – LIDZBARK

Heading north, stop at Wolf’s Lair. Hidden in the deep forest, Hitler’s former headquarters is an unique military complex from the Second World War...
See the bunkers, the old railway line and the airfield. During the war, Hitler used to spend quite a lot of time here, and the whole site was much like a town, with even a power station of its own. Continue your journey to Święta Lipka – a small village, known for the magnificent baroque church. The organ concert in Święta Lipka invariably draws large audiences. Spend the night in a 14th-century castle, which nowadays serves as a hotel with a specifically artsy feel and spa facilities

Day 4: MALBORK – GDAŃSK

The Teutonic Castle in Malbork, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is the next destination of our tour...
We bet you will be amazed at the greatness of the fortress. For years, the castle was the seat of the Teutonic Order, which played a leading role in the medieval history of Poland. Travel to Gdańsk, nicknamed the “Pearl of Northern Poland”. Enjoy the unique atmosphere and the great examples of Hanseatic architecture. Unfortunately, the Second World War left its mark on the city, but it was meticulously restored and is now a tempting tourist destination, especially with its picturesque Old Town. Your visit to Gdańsk is also a great opportunity to try the local cuisine, rich in Baltic fish.
Gdańsk, Admirał Hotel **** or similar
breakfast, dinner

Day 6: TORUŃ

Toruń is often seen as the city of Copernicus. It is where the famous Polish astronomer was born and spent the early years of his life...
But the city is also a great example of gothic architecture: it was established in the 13th century and it is worth mentioning that the Medieval Town of Toruń has been listed among the UNESCO Heritage Sites. Toruń wasn’t destroyed during World War II and it is packed with original and well-preserved historical monuments. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love Toruń even more. A visit to Toruń without tasting its famous gingerbread would simply not be complete. You’ll have an opportunity to go one step further and learn to make your own pierniki.
Toruń, 1231 Hotel **** or similar
breakfast, dinner

Day 7: WROCŁAW

The history of Wrocław was turbulent – throughout the ages it belonged to four different countries and its name was changed several times...
After World War II it had to be rebuilt from rubble. It has become one of the main tourist destinations of Poland. See the Old Town, with the marvelously restored Market Square at its center and its maze of cobbled streets, canals, bridges and church spires. Visit Ostrów Tumski, the oldest part of the city, founded as a village in 9th century by a Slavic tribe. And on your way, keep your eyes open and look for Wrocław’s dwarves. If you were planning to buy the famous Polish pottery, you can get it from the official Bolesławiec pottery shop in Wrocław.
Wrocław, HP Park Plaza **** or similar
breakfast, dinner

Day 9: KRAKÓW

For hundreds of years, Kraków was the capital of Poland – the center of Polish political, cultural and scientific life...
The city, with its unique atmosphere, is one of the most beautiful showpieces of Eastern Europe – which is why its historic center appeared on the first ever UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978. It is a city of majestic monuments, cobbled streets, priceless townhouses, pieces of fine architecture and last but not least, the city of Polish kings. Visit the Wawel Castle, a marvelous renaissance residence of kings, and the Cathedral, where kings were crowned, as well as buried. Walk to the Main Market Square. It’s known for the anthem played every day, midday, from the tower of St. Mary’s Church. Inside the church, there is a wooden altar from 15th century. Look for souvenirs in the Cloth Hall, a renaissance equivalent of a shopping mall.. While roaming around the Old Town, see the Barbican and the breathtaking Floriańska Gate.
Kraków, Columbus Hotel *** or similar
breakfast

Day 10: ZAKOPANE

Visit Zakopane to see the unique, regional style of wooden architecture. Enjoy most picturesque view over the Tatra mountains from the top of Gubałówka...
Don’t worry – there won’t be any need for perilous climbing – you will reach it by a funicular! Visit the old cemetery, where tombs of famous Polish writers or poets can be found. Take a walk on Krupówki, the perfect place to purchase some regional souvenirs, and learn more about the history and culture of this highlander region at the Tatra Museum. Last but not least, visit the old wooden church in Jaszczurówka. End the day in Zakopane with a delicious dinner at a traditional highlander restaurant. After that, return to Kraków.
Kraków, Columbus Hotel *** or similar
breakfast, dinner

Day 12: CZĘSTOCHOWA – WARSAW

On our way back to Warsaw, stop in Częstochowa. The shrine of Black Madonna is famous all over the world for its miraculous painting...
It is the most important pilgrimage destination in Poland, and every August thousands of people arrive on foot from all over Poland to pay their respects to Our Lady. The history of the monastery dates back to the 14th century, and the edifice is a great example of sacral architecture. The oldest, gothic part of the whole complex is the chapel, where the Holy Painting is located. The baroque basilica is also worth paying a visit to. Once you arrive in Warsaw, depending on your further flight plans, we can leave you directly at the airport, or at the nearby hotel, if you are catching a plane next day. Expected arrival in Warsaw: 17:00.

My father and I recently returned from our Ultimate Poland tour and we really cannot express how impressed we were with the RealPoland coordination, staff, accommodations, food, local guides and transportation. The itinerary was filled with visits to key historic and cultural sites along with some fun activities like making our own Polish pottery and a pierogi workshop - admittedly, my father and I still need to work on these skills. The accommodations were top class European standard hotels. Breakfast each day was provided in the hotels and dinners were pre-planned at various interesting restaurants in whichever city or town we happened to be staying. Lunch was on us, this may seem daunting but the tours are arranged so that a convenient lunch break happens in a square or Old Town area with an ample choice of cafes and restaurants. As for the Polish cuisine, don’t expect kielbasa and pierogis for every meal - they like to mix it up for you.

Our original intent for taking the tour was to learn more about our Polish heritage. We asked to add an extra day on the end so that we could visit my great grandparents village - the Real Poland staff took care of everything for us, an extended itinerary with hotel, transportation and a local guide.

I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the beautiful county of Poland. It's clean, safe and very affordable. Additionally, the staff at RealPoland are amazing - especially all of the "Magdas". If you are considering a trip to Poland and are worried about getting around or finding the right tour I would highly recommend RealPoland they are first class.

Natalia' and Magda's quick responsiveness was tremendous! Overall, my total xperience with Real Poland was excellent. They were helpful during setting up my tour plans, and also very helpful when we had to cancel. Natalia researched my grandfather and found lots of information about him that I did not know. I am satisfied with the work she did and I look forward to traveling to Poland in the future. I hope to visit the area where he was from and maybe meet some of my relatives.
